As congestion, traffic and CO2 emissions increase, it is becoming increasingly necessary for developers to ensure their development has little or no impact on the road network and the environment through the development of a Residential Travel Plan. One of the aims that is commonly included within travel plans is to encourage residents to car share.
Some of the many benefits include:
There are two ways that residents can take advantage of the CamShare car matching service:
Other advantages of a setting up a Private Car Share Group include:
Marketing car sharing
- Joining a Private Car Share Group will also link you into the regular CamShare promotions that encourage the take-up of car sharing. These promotions are run by the Travel for Work Partnership and Cambridgeshire County Council.
- In addition you will have the advice and support of your allocated Liftshare Project Officer who will be able to advise you on internal marketing of the scheme.
Monitoring usage
- In addition a Private Car Share Group gives you access to CamShare’s excellent monitoring and communication tools. This is very important for developments that are using car sharing as part of wider travel plan.
Support
- Each private scheme is 100% automated and needs no intervention from you to facilitate matches. Private groups will be assigned a Project Officer by Liftshare enabling dedicated access and support.
Cost
- To provide the support and security for these private groups there is a cost. Charges are based on the size of your development.
- There are one-off registration and licence fees in year one. From year two you will be charged a percentage licence fee – see table below.
Number of Dwellings Number of Residents* One-off Registration Fee One-off Year One License Fee License Fee from Year Two 100 250 £200 £500 £133 250 625 £500 £1,250 £333 500 1250 £1,000 £2,500 £665 1000 2500 £2,000 £5,000 £1,330 * Number of dwellings x 2.5 (average number of residents per dwelling)
You can promote www.camshare.co.uk to your residents who can join for free using their email address. They will then be a part of the ‘open’ CamShare system which links to the liftshare.com database on the Internet.
Developers wishing to join CamShare should contact Liftshare to discuss the arrangements - see contact page
